SAIL4PEACE: Our Mission

While there is some question as to whether humanity constitutes a developing political system (which I’ve long contended that it does) there is little doubt that it is now advantageous for us to at least grant that it is a political system in its very early stages of development.
And that is where we can help: We are uniquely placed by the circumstances of our time, as well as our individual merits and character to help foster the development of a viable international system for the ever greater satisfaction of individual needs and wants.
As we know from recent world developments, pirates, pirates mind you—in this age of global communications & space exploration, terrorize the high seas and make a mockery of so called international law;
Cyber-hackers disrupt the internet, as well as the myriad systems dependent thereon, that we now take for granted; the consequences could be dire and potentially tragic.
Further:
- Wars ravage our planet and result in the torture, maiming and killing of our people.
- Global pollution knows no borders; yet because of inadequate international safeguards it worsens with each passing day.
- Diseases recognize no national boundaries yet because of inadequate international health policies the health of every person on our planet is unnecessarily jeopardized.
- Around the world, children are malnourished, lack adequate education and are often forced into slave labor and worse. Their educations and their lives often become insufferable; they often turn to drugs and other depravities while being denied a chance to broaden their horizons and achieve their dreams.
The list of problems that could and should be addressed is insufferably long and tragic. Yet the majority of our national leaders seem more interested in perpetuating the status quo and/or their own petty political powers.
The time is ripe for a new movement. Educational in nature, its goal is to use the organizational powers inherent in the internet to facilitate the development of cooperative civic enterprises to help solve social problems both within and among all the world’s nations.
Social and cognitive scientists have come to increasingly recognize the importance of cooperation as an essential component of humanity’s ability to survive and prosper.
It is now time to educate the public to the benefits of using this knowledge for our mutual benefit as individuals and as one species whose survival is being unnecessarily jeopardized by our continuing violence against each other.
Because of the global nature of today’s electronic communications, it is now possible not only to educate the public as to the benefits of mutual cooperation but also to provide them with incentives to do so.
Education and motivation are the keys to a new kingdom in which people power is the sovereign; only then will we begin to realize the benefits of governments that truly are of, by and for the people.
Toward this end we agree to the following:
The lives of all human beings are sacrosanct; therefore world peace is our goal and non-violence is the means by which we are committed to achieving it.
That justice requires the ever greater satisfaction of individual needs and wants and that priority should be given to those needs that are essential to an individual’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development.
- To create an international organization capable of educating the public of the need for civic or civil enterprise to collaboratively advance world peace and justice and to protect our planet and all its people.
Individuals from every nation would be encouraged to join this organization. The membership could then create a framework to evaluate various proposals by civic entrepreneurs that most contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of people anywhere and everywhere.
